Hi, I'm Teca Thompson, farm-to-table chef, and today we're talking about, does tinfoil help ripen fruit faster? So, yes, it does, and the reason why is because if you can tent the fruit inside the tinfoil, it gives what is called a greenhouse effect, keeping it very warm and moist and raising the temperature, and therefore making the fruit be softer and ripen faster. So I'm going to show you real quick how to do it. Here I've got my regular tinfoil, I'm going to pull out a sheet of tinfoil, about as big as my cutting board, and I'm going to take what I have here is kiwi fruit and I'm going to place them in the center of the tinfoil. And then I'm just going to tent them up, rolling the top down and sealing the edges, like so. So we've just made a little tent for our kiwis, and we can just set these on the counter top next to our fruit bowl and you can check them every few days and in a few days you'll have beautiful soft ripe kiwis. I'm Chef Teca Thompson, that is, does tinfoil make your fruit ripen faster? Thank you for watching.
