Hey there, Oscar Carmona, owner of Healing Grounds Certified Biodynamic Nursery, here today to talk to you about how to clear mulch. Mulch and compost are important forms of organic matter that are really wonderful and essential for a healthy garden environment whether it be a container or a raised bed environment but there are times when you would want to clear your mulch away from a plant setting or in the garden area and those are when you have a plant that is overly stressed from too much water. Mulch can hold moisture and when you have the mulch up too closely to a plant, it can inundate that plant a little bit much so you maybe want to draw that mulch away from the plant. You may want to remove a mulch or take it and replace some, use some cardboard underneath or add some amendments such as compost to the soil in which case you want to remove the soil, the mulch first and then replace it later after you've applied your compost or mineral nutrients that you may want to add to a soil. And so there are times when removing your mulch is important and you want to be able to do that in a proper and effective manner. I'm Oscar Carmona from Healing Grounds Certified Biodynamic Nursery. Remember, feed the soil and let the plants feed you.
