Hi, I'm Dr. Laurinda Kwan from the Arizona Natural Health Center. Symptoms of allergies can seem obvious and include a runny, itchy, stuffy nose, and sneezing, red itchy eyes, and a tickling or scratchy throat but can also include hives or a rash after coming in contact with cat dander, saliva, or urine, or if the cat has scratched you a rash can appear in the area of a scratch. For more severe cat allergies you may have chronic coughing and wheezing which are possible signs of allergic asthma and the lesser known symptom which can be cold like symptoms which never seem to go away. Signs of allergies to cats may develop within minutes or may take several hours to appear. If you suspect you have a cat allergy it's important to see your doctor. Skin and blood tests for cat allergies are not always accurate but your doctor can still help you determine whether your symptoms are due to a cat allergy or something else and if you do have cat allergies there are options. Find a doctor that has the right fit for you, there are conventional treatments such as antihistamines, cortical steroids, and allergy shots or natural ways of treating cat allergies such as nutrition, supplements, herbs, acupuncture, and homeopathy. I'm Dr. Laurinda Kwan from the Arizona Natural Health Center talking to you today about signs of allergies to cats.
