Hey! This is Dany J. We’re in Southlake, Texas at Camp Hero Fitness. And today, I’m going to show you how to do a shoulder press with a straight bar. Shoulder press with a straight bar, it’s also called a barbell. When you do a shoulder press with barbells, you want to make sure the bar is straight and your hands are even. So, if you can find a bar with markings, make sure your hands are even from those markings. Start with the bar right below your chin, and your elbows are slightly forward. You can see from the side – you don’t want to have your elbows back, or the weight will drop forward. So, elbows are pushed in front. From here, you’re just lifting straight over your head, and you’re actually going to do a slight shrug, and then lower back down below your chin. From the side, you’re going straight up, slight shrug, and then bring it back down in front to your shoulders. This is also sometimes called a military press, and it’s great for your front and side delts. It’s a great compound exercise to use any time.
