Hi, I’m Michelle Simone, and I’m a hairstylist, and today I’m going to show you some ways to get your hair untangled. So, first thing’s first is never ever grab for your brush and rake through it. I’ve seen people destroy their hair by pulling brushes through it just to get the knots out. That is not a good way to go about it. One thing that can help you if you have really tangly hair, especially once you get out of the shower, is a leave-in conditioning spray. This is going to help make it more manageable, help you brush through it easier. And keeping it more conditioned, using more conditioner when you’re in the shower and then really rinsing it out really well is going to help make your hair less tangly. In addition, getting regular trims is going to help keep your hair from breaking at the ends which helps – which kind of ends up putting it into knots. But, when you’re going to be untangling your hair, you want to take a comb with wide teeth or a big paddle brush – something that’s going to be gentle – and you start by holding part of your hair at the middle and combing it at the bottom first, because we want to gently get out any of the knots that are at the bottom of the hair before we start working up any further. If you start at the top, you’re going to kind of drag the knots all the way down. So, start at the bottom, make sure it’s nice and combed out, and then keep working your way up through the hair until you get to the top. Then, you should be able to comb through easily. So, I’m Michelle Simone, and I just showed you how to untangle your hair.
