Hi, I’m Michelle Simone, and I’m a hairstylist. And today, I’m going to show you a laced braid hairstyle, also known as a lacing braid. So, I’ve started by parting her hair all the way in the side, and that way we can get a nice laced braid to come across her head and down through the side, and this can be a nice, kind of half-up hairstyle, really easy to do when you don’t have a lot of time. So, the thing with a laced braid that makes it different than a French braid or a Dutch braid is that while you’re braiding, you’re only going to take pieces from the top of your head, and continue using the same strand from the bottom, rather than picking up new pieces. So, start it the way you would start any normal French braid. Take a section at the front, split it into three pieces. And, what you’re going to do, you can either do this in a French braid style, or you can do it in the reverse in a Dutch braid style. Today, we’re going to do this as a French braid. So, cross, start it over as a regular braid, and then take a piece from the top, add it to the left strand, cross it over the middle. And then, instead of picking up a piece for the right strand, you’re just going to cross it over and continue your braid. And, what I’m going to do is start directing the pieces to go on a diagonal, which is just going to look a little nicer, and it’s kind of going to finish the braid down the side. So, take a piece that’s a little bit bigger than the last one and direct it down a little further than the last piece. Then, you’re just going to take the right strand, add both at the middle, continue on. Take another piece from the top, add it to the left, cross it over, then cross back without picking up a piece. We continue on, the back of the head another large piece, cross it over the middle, cross the front back over. So, you’re going to continue on the braid down to the bottom as a regular braid. You can go further back, you can use the rest of her hair and get this all into one braid. But, for now, we’re just doing this one front piece as a regular braid. And then, just secure it with a rubber band. And, that’s it. Now, you have a cute laced braid hairstyle. I’m Michelle Simone, and we just showed you a lacing braid.
