This is Stephany with Elevate Fitness, and today we're going to talk about if running on an empty stomach helps you burn more fat. The answer is yes, the reason being is whenever you are running without anything in the stomach, your insulin is very low and while your insulin is low and your adrenaline is high, that forces the body to burn more of your fatty acids. Now the thing that you want to be careful of when running on an empty stomach is you want to listen to your body. You don't want to go any more than 30 minutes of running while you are on an empty stomach because after about 30 minutes that's when the body actually starts to take from your muscle source to continue to get more energy to help you do the workout that you are doing. Another thing that you want to make sure you do is you drink lots of water before you run and after you run.
