This is Stephany with Elevate Fitness, and today we're going to talk about cardio exercises without running. Two other cardio machines that are really beneficial for you to use instead of running is going to be the elliptical and the StairMaster. The reason why the elliptical is beneficial for you is because it's a lot less stress on the joints. Running can actually put a lot more stress on your knees, ankles and hips where the elliptical because of the circular movement has a lot less strain on those joints. The reason why the StairMaster is such a beneficial cardio machine is because it works out all of your legs and big muscles are going to burn big calories so using your thighs, your quadriceps, your hamstrings, your glutes, your calves and your core is what the StairMaster uses so that can also be a very beneficial cardio machine. It will put maybe a little bit more strain or a little bit more pressure on the joints so that is something that you want to be careful with. Now if you want to stay away from cardio machines totally then you can actually do a cardio workout yourself without running. One of the workouts that I really like to do is mountain climbers and that is when you come into a plank position and you bring your knees to the elbow and then you alternate as quickly as possible. Another good cardio workout is going to be a push-up and you can get a really strong core just from doing a good push-up. Still another really good cardio workout is going to be kneecaps and you want to do this at a very high pace. This is Stephany with Elevate Fitness and we just talked about cardio exercises without running, get lifted.
