Hi, I'm Christy Wilhelmi of Garden Nerd, and I'm here to show you how to keep chipmunks from your strawberry patch. It's one of those things that happens to just about everybody so you're not alone in your strife. Strawberries are really delicious and everybody wants some. So one of the best ways to keep chipmunks out of your strawberry patch is to use bird netting because it works not only for birds, it works for other critters. Bird netting is this nylon netting that keeps your strawberries protected and basically you just drape it over the top of your raised bed or your planting, you know any planting area that you have and you can just leave it over the top like this. If you've got high winds though you want to use u-pins. These are giant hairpins that you can use to secure this netting in the corners and they will stay right there. Another thing that's good to do if you have strawberries that get rather tall is install hoops over your planting area because occasionally the strawberries will grow through the netting and if you want to avoid that just use hoops and then cover the entire area with bird netting and this works not just with chipmunks but with squirrels and rats and birds. So this is the way, the best way that I know to keep chipmunks and other critters out of your strawberry patch. I'm Christy Wilhelmi from Garden Nerd.
