Hi, this is Chef Mariko Today, I'm going to show you how to make macaroons with agave nectar. To get started, you'll want to get a mixer and then add four egg whites. When using egg whites for macaroons, you want to use real egg whites, not the ones that already come in a container. I'm separating the egg white from the yolk, you can either use the shell or you can use a yolk separating tool. Now, I'm just going to turn my mixer onto a high speed. I will want my egg whites to form a stiff peak. You know your egg whites are finished when they form a stiff peak. This means that they're really firm and they hold their shape. Now, I want to add the coconut and the agave. To your egg whites, add two cups of unsweetened grated coconut, a quarter cup of agave nectar and a pinch of salt. Now, I'm gently going to fold all the ingredients together. You want to be careful when you're stirring this because if you mix it too hard, all of the egg whites are going to deflate. Now, I'm just going to put heaping tablespoons of the macaroon mixture onto a parchment lined baking sheet. I like using parchment paper when I'm making cookies because it helps everything brown evenly and look picture perfect. Now, I'm going to bake my macaroons with agave at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes until golden brown. This is Chef Mariko showing you how to make macaroons with agave. Enjoy!
