Hi, I'm Lori Greer from Atlanta, Georgia, and I'm here to explain what equity theory and comparable worth mean. Equity worth is the concept that people derive job satisfaction and motivation by comparing their efforts or inputs in income or outputs with those of the other people in the same or other firms. Comparable worth is the concept that jobs that require comparable abilities, knowledge and skills should be paid the same wage or salary rate irrespective of the employee's age, race, sex or any other difference. I'm Lori Greer from Atlanta, Georgia and that is what equity theory and comparable worth mean.
