Hello, this is Grand Master Ted Gambordella, and I'm going to show you how you can make your shins tougher for kickboxing. The main thing I want to emphasize when you are trying to strengthen your shin is that you've got to hit with this part from about where your sock would come and down. This part can be deadened and numb, hitting up here, your top of your shin will break your leg and not train your leg. So the best way to tighten to make your shin effective, is to kick the bag with your shin. So you start off nice and light, where I'm kicking the bag with my shin but you notice I'm not kicking it down here, I'm kicking it with my toes and then you build it up until you get more and more power and you want to lift and pull through it. And the more you lift, the more it hurts and the more damage it does and you want to go up and down. Now if you are fighting somebody and you give them one of these, it hurts here, kick. If they have a broomstick or handle, you can roll it down the shin, but the main thing I want to emphasize, when you are strengthening your shin the only way to do it is to kick things or to roll it and make it flat but do not kick with the top of your shin, that will hurt, kick right where the ankle meets and then you've got a lot of power, and a lot of snap, and it's going to hurt them. This is Grand Master, Ted Gambordella, and you just learned some exercises to make your shins tougher for kickboxing and for martial arts.
