Hi, I'm Chef Barbara Mattaliano from Goose Valley Natural Foods. Today, I'm going to show you how to add flavor to your rice and season your rice recipes. I have here some cooked wild rice. The number one way to season your rice is with salt and you can do it two ways. You can either add salt after you have finished cooking it just like this. So once it's all cooked, I add salt, a generous amount and then add a drizzle of olive oil and the olive oil is a great way to season your rice. It adds a nice flavor and it also coats the outer grain of the rice and makes it nice and shiny. So I'll give it a stir. So it looks great if you're doing like a wild rice salad and you want it to be really, you know, you want the grains to look really pretty and shiny and it tastes really good too. Another great way to season your rice is with dried fruits and nuts. So I have here some toasted pine nuts and some pistachios. So I'm going to add a cup of each and I'm going to just stir it through and this is a great base if you're making a pilaff and I'm going to season it with a little salt and pepper and then I have here our Basmati Wild Fusion that's been resting and I'm going to season it with acid. You can use any of your favorite fruit, lemon, lime, orange. I've used the juice and the zest. It will really brighten up the flavor of the rice. So I have here a little bit of zest. I'm just going to sprinkle that on and the juice from one lime. I'm going to add a little bit of salt and a little bit of pepper and I'm going to add some chopped cilantro, fresh herbs are another great way to season your rice and I'm going to stir that through. So this cilantro lime rice is going to be really good. So here you have it, three great ways to add flavor to your rice and season your rice recipes.
