Hi, I'm Denise Druce, a fitness instructor in Salt Lake City, Utah. Let's look at some exercises you can do to help you learn how to walk on your hands. So a handstand is a combination of strength and balance and it's important that you work on both before you try to walk on your hands. So let's talk about four steps you can take to get better at this skill. The first one is doing a lot of push-ups, full push-ups with your weight on your hands and your feet. You'll want to do these push-ups with your core engaged and your body straight like a plank. The second thing you can do is go to the wall, bring your hands about 18 inches away from the wall and then kick your feet up into a handstand. So the wall is there to support you and you can gradually start to move your toes away from the wall and learn to balance on your hands. The third step will be a push-up in a handstand. So once you get that wall handstand solid, you can put a pillow under your head and begin doing push-ups just lowering your head toward the pillow and back up. And then the fourth thing you need to do is just practice. Get on a soft surface like grass or carpeting, kick up into a handstand and once you feel balanced there, move one hand forward an inch and then the other.
