Hi, this is Lisa with Danceypantsfitness.com here at Anytime Fitness, South Longview, Texas, and we're going to talk today about what are the muscles used when you are doing a lunge. So you have some stabilizing muscles that are definitely engaged which would be the core, the abdominals and the lower back and then of course, the muscles of the lower leg, the quadriceps. There's four that run right here. We have the vastus lateralis, the vastus intermedius, the vastus medialis and the rectus femoris. The muscles in the back of the thigh are called the hamstrings.
