Hi, I'm farm to table chef, Teca Thompson, and today we're talking about how to plant an urban garden. This is a pretty fun subject and it's really all about being very creative and utilizing your space and your old goods no matter how you want to do it. So here I have an old tire. I have filled it three quarters of the way full with potting soil and manure and I'm just going to plant some of my favorite plants in here. So we've got Romaine lettuce, parsley and maybe we'll do eggplant. So urban gardening is really all about keeping your plants moisturized in sun and utilizing your space in whatever way you can, whether it be windowsills, using an old tire, I like to do like an herb basket which makes a great gift too and you can just keep this in your kitchen. It has the basic essentials like thyme, sage and parsley. I'll do anything from using an old egg carton which I poke holes in the bottom and then I'll do a little bit of soil and then this is perfect for starting little baby transplants from seed. You always want to make sure that anything you're planting or using is getting enough sun and water and that you always have a good drainage system for your plants. So this is Teca Thompson, that's how to plant an urban garden. Thank you for watching.
