Hey guys, it's Cari Shoemate. Now as a trainer one of my favorite exercises for the lower body is a lunge. Now why is it one of my favorite exercises? Well probably because you can do it anywhere. So I tell my clients you know do these lunges at home. You can do them while you are traveling, go outside and do them. You don't need any fancy equipment to really work your lower body. And lunges do they really hit everything in the lower body. They work those quads in the front, glutes, and hamstrings in the back. And even your calf muscles. Now don't just do the same type of lunge though for every workout that you do. You really want to change it up. So do a variety of lunges. You know you can do walking lunges where you actually walk the lunge. You can do stationary lunges where you stay in place. You can do curtsy lunges bringing one foot back behind you at a diagonal. Or you can even do side lunges. Now for most of these lunges especially the walking lunges and stationary lunges you really want to make sure that both legs are bending at 90 degrees. So the back leg is also working here again 90 degrees. And the front leg, that front knee is staying right on top of the ankle. It's super, super important. Now if you want to make it harder just add some weight. You know grab something around your house or grab two dumbbells and add a little bit of that resistance. It's just going to work your muscles a little bit harder. I'm Cari Shoemate and I'll see you next time.
