Hi, I'm Erin Hendley, professional makeup artist, and today I'm going to show you homemade recipes that can be used for red irritated dry facial skin. And really the key ingredients are just two basic things that we would find in our house, cold water and petroleum jelly. So we're going to go in with a sponge. If you have a washcloth at home that works as well and we're really just going to make sure that we moisturize our skin with this cold water. A lot of the irritated skin that we get that causes redness is because of dryness so we want to make sure that we're using cold water instead of hot because hot can lead to dryness and also inflammation. So just make sure it's pretty cool, cool locks in moisture much better than heat does as well. After we have our cold water going on we can go in with our petroleum jelly and just work that into the skin. The petroleum jelly doesn't reduce the redness right off the bat but if you use it as a facial regimen, then it will over time because it blocks out all the free radicals that could cause irritation and also helps prevent wind from irritating the skin as well because it just locks in the moisture and creates that barrier between the skin and anything that could compete with it. I'm Erin Hendley, and I just showed you home recipes that can help cure red irritated skin.
