Hi, I'm Anna Maria de Freitas, owner of the Harrison House Suites, Tuckerhouse Inn and Coho Restaurant on Friday Harbor, San Juan Island. Today, I'm going to show you how to make some Oreo cookie bars using sweetened condensed milk. So these are a knock off of magic seven cookie bars that you might make during the holidays. So I'm going to be using some graham crackers and some Oreos of course. Just going to put them in a food processor and you want to puree them. OK. So they're nice and ground. That's going to be the base. I actually have some premeasured so it's actually three quarters of a cup of ground Oreos and three quarters of a cup of graham crackers. Then I'm going to add just a teaspoon of some cinnamon just for a little bit of flavor. Going to mix this up. Actually if you're probably counting they're not going to be magic sevens, probably more like magic eights. But close enough. Add half a cup of melted butter. This is very similar to making a typical graham cracker crust or a pie or a cheesecake. This is going to be the base of our cookies. OK so I'm going to pour this into my prepared pan. You can use a square or round pan. Depends on how you want to cut them. A little bit of cooking spray just to make sure that it's nonstick. Then we're going to spread this around here. Get an even coverage. Got to make sure it's nice and compressed. And then we're going to spread some condensed milk on top. This is actually four ounces. Just be careful not to upset your crust. OK. Then we're going to add some sweetened shredded coconut on top. As you add the other layers you're going to hide a multitude of so it's not. Going to pat that down. OK next we're going to add some walnuts. I toasted them off just to give them a little bit more flavor. Lightly chopped them. But you can see how flexible this is and how creative you can be with different toppings. So I'm going to spread that as well. And then last we're going to end up with some chocolate chips. You can add butterscotch chips if you like. You can actually also be creative and use mint Oreos or instead of using graham crackers, Nabisco famous wafers. So lots of options here. Press it all down. So you're going to bake this for about 25 or 30 minutes until the tops get golden brown. Or until it looks like this. And then you just cut it like a traditional cookie bar and enjoy. I hope you enjoy your Oreo cookie bars with sweetened condensed milk.
