Hi, this is Tarik Tayler with Tariktyler.com here at Train, West Hollywood, and this is York barbell training for calves. Well one of the basic ways to do real barbell training with calves is to do them seated. A lot of people do them with the bar across their neck but rather than put all that strain across the neck to do calf raises doing them seated gives you much more advantages. For one, now that I'm seated here, once I raise up and bring it down, it's all being focused on my calves. Secondly, another thing which you can do is you can change the angle of how you do them. For example, you can bring your heels in, thus working a little bit more of the inside of your calves, or you can bring your heels out, point your toes in and then that way you are working here on the outside, very effective. The key thin is to keep your rep range high because the calf muscles are your body's shock absorbers. They can take a lot of resistance so you might want to actually start off with a little bit of heavier and then build your way up from there.
