Hi, I'm Chef Mariko. Today, I'm going to show you how to bake a potato in cloth. You can actually purchase potato baking bags at the store, but today, I'm going to show you how to do it yourself without one of those fancy bags. First off, you want to get a piece of material or flannel that's a hundred percent cotton. Today, I'm using a flour sack that is a hundred percent cotton to wrap my potato in. First, I'm going to take the potato; normally when you bake potatoes, you have to cut off the ends or put some pokes in it to let the steam escape. But, when you're doing it in cloth, you can just put it the way it is. Then you want to get your piece of a hundred percent cotton cloth and then just wrap your potato in it. Then, you want to put your wrapped potato in the microwave for seven minutes. If they're larger potatoes, you might want to put it in there for eight or nine minutes. Here's my potato that's been steaming in the microwave for seven minutes. Be careful though, it's going to be really hot and once you unwrapped the cloth, you're going to have some steam escape. So, be careful not to burn yourself. So, you want to carefully unwrap your potato and there it is, steamed to perfection. And be careful, it's going to be hot. If I cut it open, you can see that it's cooked perfectly all the way through and there's lots of steam in there, keeping the potatoes moist and tender. This is Chef Mariko showing you how to bake a potato in cloth.
