Hi, I'm chef Mariko. Today, I will show you the best way to steam new potatoes. First you want to get started with a pot. Add about two inches of water. Then you want to get the steamer basket. Then you want to add your favorite new potatoes. Today I'm using a combination of purple, white, and red potatoes. When doing steamed potatoes I like to use a combination because each different type of potato has a different flavor to it. Alright so then just put your potatoes in the steamer basket. Add a little bit of salt. And then they're ready to cover and go over medium to high heat. These are going to take between five and fifteen minutes to cook depending on the size. These ones are relatively small so they should only take about five to seven minutes. It's been about seven minutes and the potatoes look steamed to perfection. To season your steamed new potatoes I like to put a little drizzle of olive oil. Some fresh ground pepper. And a sprinkle of my favorite seasoning. This is chef Mariko showing you the best way to steam new potatoes. Enjoy.
