Hi, I'm Chef Mariko. Today, I'm going to show you how to boil potatoes in the oven. Sometimes we might not have room on our stove top to boil potatoes so here's a method for doing it in the oven that's quick and hassle-free. First you want to get an oven-proof baking dish. Then, add your potatoes. Today I'm using a combination of many new potatoes. I have red ones, yellow ones and purple ones. So I'm just going to put these in my baking dish and if you had bigger potatoes, you could cut them a little bit. Just make sure they are all uniform size. Then I'm going to cover my potatoes with water. You want the water to be about an inch above the potatoes. I'm going to add a little bit of olive oil while they're boiling, some of my favorite seasoning blend. It's a combination of garlic, onion, rosemary and a few other secret ingredients, some fresh ground pepper and a little bit of salt. Now I'm just going to cover my baking dish with foil and I'm going to bake it in the oven for about 45 minutes at 450 degrees. Now that the potatoes are out of the oven you want to be careful when removing the foil because it's going to be hot and there's going to be a lot of steam. Look at that. You know that they are finished when you poke them with a fork and the fork goes all the way through with no resistance. This is Chef Mariko showing you how to boil potatoes in the oven. Enjoy.
