Hi, I'm Kristy Lee Wilson. I am a personal trainer and performance enhancement specialist. You can visit my website at www.kristywilson.com. Today, we are going to talk about what is a good weight for the shoulder press for women. So when it comes to choosing a weight for the shoulder press or for any exercise there really is no ideal weight. There's no one size fits all weight for anybody. What may be challenging for you may be too light for somebody else. So the most important thing is your form and depending on what your goals are will also depend on the weight that you use. Now if you are looking to tone your shoulders you are going to want to do a repetition range of about 12 to 15 repetitions for three to four sets. Important thing you must challenge yourself. Do not be afraid to lift heavy. Many women are afraid thinking that if they lift heavy weights they are going to bulk up. This is not the case. So make sure you challenge yourself. Choose a heavy enough weight that is going to make the last two to three repetitions of every set you do challenging. So let me show you the correct form of a shoulder press. You want to start with the weights by your shoulders. Abs are in, engage the core. From here you want to press up. Press the shoulders, press the weights directly overhead then slowly come back down. Press the weights up. Exhale as you press overhead. And then bring the weights back down. Lets go again. One more time and come down. Again, you want to make sure at the end of every set you are really struggling to get those weights overhead. If not next set you do you want to choose a little heavier weight. I'm Kristy Lee Wilson and we just went through what a good weight for the shoulder press for women is.
