Hi, my name is Claire Coleman. I'm a hair stylist, and I'm going to show you how to do an updo to wear with a crown. First thing we're going to do is we're going to curl all the hair and we're going to use a heat protecting spray just to make sure that our hair is protected. And spray every section. And then curl away from the face. And you want to curl from the roots to ends. That way all of your hair gets treated with the heat. Then once you're done curling all of your hair, you're going to take a diagonal section from over the eyebrow to the crown. And we're going to keep a little bit of this out. And then we're also going to take a horizontal section from a couple inches above the ear just across to where you just made your part over the crown of your head. And this section that we're taking is about an inch wide. And we're going to just tease it. So you want to hold your section pretty tight and start pressing down with your teasing brush or comb from the roots to the mid shaft. Nice and teased really high. And just kind of spread it out and place it where you want it to go. And I'm going to take that little section and smooth is just with my hands a little bit. And pin it to secure. And then the rest of the hair I'm just going to take in to a ponytail right below it. Keeping a little bit of a front section just to frame the face. And try not to pull too tight on that section that you just made because we want to keep it out. And then just pull all that in to a ponytail. And pull it tight. Then we're just going to create a bun and you're going to split your ponytail in half and start wrapping around, keeping this section in the middle because we're going to wrap that as well. So wrap your first bun and secure it. And then wrap your second bun around that. It's just going to create a lot more volume in your bun. And secure that as well with a pin. Couple pins if your hair is really thick. You want to make it a little bit easier. And then just smooth anything out that looks a little too messy. And then once you get your crown, you're going to place it right here and you'll have the volume of your hair behind it to kind of fill it out. This is what this side looks like from the back. And from the front. My name is Claire Coleman and I just showed you how to do an updo for a crown.
