This is Cathy McClellan. I’m a Florida-licensed real estate broker and certified building contractor with Today’s Homes Real Estate in Panama City, Florida. Today, we’re here to talk about how to make an offer to purchase a piece of farmland from your neighbor. Maybe you have plans to expand your home. Maybe you have plans to expand your farm. Maybe it’s a piece of property that you’ve always loved. Maybe it’s been in somebody’s family for generations and you want it. How do you go about approaching your neighbor and letting them know that you’re interested in their property? First of all, you go to your county tax collector’s office or property appraiser site public records, and find out who owns the property. You need to find out who owns it, how long they’ve owned it, how did they acquire it – all the information that would need in order to approach your neighbor to let them know that you are interested in the property. Once you find out what the property’s worth, you find out who owns it, and all the information that you need, go ahead and knock on the door and ask them if they’re interested in selling the property. Tell them why that you want to buy the property, and tell them that you’re interested. Plant that seed. Let them know that you’re interested, and maybe one day soon, they will want to sell that property to you. It’s as easy as that. This is Cathy McClellan, until next time!
