Hi, I'm Todd Languell, The Flying Furniture Guy from R and D Wood Shop in Scotia, New York. Today I'm going to show you how remove veneer on wood furniture. You can see I have a leaf here from a dining room table and the back of the veneer is completely shot and normally I would just glue it down, but it's so shot in some spots that even a repair is not going to be any good. So what I like to do is I like to remove what I can by hand, but then I start with a chisel. When you're are working from the edge it makes a lot of sense because it leaves your chisel in the flat spot for as long as possible so you, you get sown to the edge and you can lift up a little bit and these should pull off almost in one complete pieces. Work up to edge give it a little lift. Try to leave your chisel as flat as long as possible, you're going to find that that's going to be the easiest way for you to remove this veneer. Now when it's in the center and you can't use your chisel where it's laying complexly flat you must turn that chisel over and use it from an angled position and when you're using it from the angled position, you just want to leave it flat and you want to push it along. Now you see we've come in to a difficult spot, I've got to grab some clamps. You, it's starting to get difficult in the center here so what I like to do is I like to clamp it down, gives you a better working area. I like to turn the chisel over and I like to work and then pull it up and over. And you can see that with just a little effort this veneer is going to come all the way off. If you want you can turn your chisel over and give it a small scrape just try not to gouge. And you're going to sand this normally as you would to prep it for the, another veneer adhesion and you're going to glue the veneer down and trim it off. Hi,I'm Todd Languell, The Flying Furniture Guy and this was how to remove veneer on wood furniture.
