Hi, I'm Chris with Live Fit Personal Training out of Kansas City, and today I'm going to show you how to tone the lower and upper back using exercise band. What you are going to need is a fixed structure that you can pull against with your band. You are going to wrap it around. And make sure it's centered about waist level. Go ahead and hold the handles. Step back so there's some tension. Feet wide. You are going to do a slight squat. Stand up and extend the hips. And then pull back. Then up, squat, stand, extend the hips and pull back. So as you stand and extend the hips that's when you are getting the lower back involved. And you are really flexing the hip or extending the hips and strengthening and toning the lower back. As you pull the band back towards you, you are using your back muscles to pull. You are also using a little bit of bicep. But again the main focus is on the upper back, the shoulders, and the traps. And you are going to do about 10 to 15 reps. And that's a great way to tone both the lower back and the upper back using an exercise band.
