Hi, it's Faith Dey, and I'm at Princeton Club West in Madison, Wisconsin, and we're here to talk about how to use a curl bar for your tricep press. Now if you look on the gym floor, the curl bar is the crooked bar that looks like a W and so it really helps you to keep that proper alignment when you're doing a tricep press. Take the bar as you lie on your back, position the bar directly over your chest so that your arms are straight, they're perpendicular to your body. Now, I want you to keep your shoulders till and your upper arms still while you hinge back with your forearms, go to about a 90 degree angle. The bar will stop at about your forehead and then you're going to press straight up to straight arms again and you'll feel your triceps work. You'll notice that the shape of the bar really helps you to keep that proper form and alignment. It takes a little bit of practice so keep the weight light. I wouldn't put any plates on the bar. So just use the bar by itself, practice that hinge and you'll be good to go. If you need more tips, just visit me at
