Hi, I'm Erin Hendley, Professional Makeup Artist, and today I'm going to answer your question, "How do I wear purple eye shadow without looking tired?" Purple eye shadow is actually quite tricky as it does match a lot of our undertones that we see in our skin like our veins. So, it's important that we keep it above the eye. So, what I'm saying is, it's best not to bring the eye shadow down underneath the eye. That's really where you're going to look most tired when you have any dark color on including black or blue or purple. So, using those techniques in mind, we're going to go in with some festive color purples. Just use a little bit at a time, purple's an interesting color to work with. When you are wearing purple, we actually want it to show up quite a bit because we don't want it to look like it's just something underneath our skin like a vein. So, we pretty much want to make a statement when it comes to bright purples. If you're working with plums, that's a different story, but we're working with true purples today. I like it in the shimmery texture because it lets us know that the person doesn't have a swollen black eye and it's just purple from it. It's actually a nice, beautiful pastel purple. And we're just going all over the lid, keeping it seamless of course, just really blending it out and keeping it on just the eyelid, not bringing it down. We want to lift things up to make us awake and not look tired. After that, if you want to, we can go in with a little bit darker purple and just dust the outside with it. Again, we're not trying to blend too many different colors together because we don't want it to look like it's the aftermath of a black eye. We just want it to be pretty. And that's why metallics help as well. They reflect light better which is going to hit and make you look more awake. I'm Erin Hendley, and I just showed you how to wear purple eye shadow without looking tired.
