I'm Anna Maria Knapp owner of Celebrations Wine Club, and we're here at beautiful Barossa Vineyards and Winery in the Napa Valley. Our topic is how to crush wine grapes? And of course as everyone knows the old way of doing it was to dump the grapes into a container, step into the container with bare feet and start to stomp. Owner of Barossa Vineyards, Vick Barossa is going to show us how to do that with a handy machine. This is a great way to crush and destem your wine for home wine makers this little piece of equipment costs about 1,800.00 dollars and it's available from Home Wine Makers Supply Stores. This is a Cantinetta Destemmer and basically how you use this is you take whole clusters of grapes, you put them in the hopper, there's a screw in here that brings them down to where there's a roller and, and a gears inside here that actually destem the wine, so the stems come out one end, the must, grape skins, seeds and pulp go into the bin and this is where you inculcate with yeast to make your wine. If you prefer you can still crush grapes with your feet, but if not you might want to try this handy machine. I'm Anna Maria Knapp owner of Celebrations Wine Club.
