Hi, my name is Stephany with Elevate Fitness, and today we're going to talk about exercises to help tone the arm and upper back. And what we're going to do is try some extensions so bringing your arm close to your torso, you want to do a full extension of the arm coming back in at 90 degrees and then repeating the movement. What you do want to try to avoid is swinging, you don't want to come all the way up and down otherwise you're taking away from the movement and you're not really working out the muscle as much as you can. Now another work out, this specifically for your upper back is going to be a row. This is a very beneficial muscle for you to improve or to work on because it helps with posture. So you want to do on a row is lifting your arm up, you want to squeeze your shoulder blade and drop it back down. One of things that you want to avoid is when you come down, bringing the shoulder forward. You want to keep your shoulder in that natural position with the spine facing downward. So you squeeze your shoulder blade as you come up and then you drop it down not moving the shoulder, keeping it in its position. Another workout that you can use to tone your arms is going to bicep curl. Now there's two different bicep curls. You can do a hammer curl, which has the weights facing or your wrists facing the inside of your body coming up and down. One of the things that you want to try to avoid is swaying your back. So if you bring your stomach draw your stomach in towards your spine, keep your chest up, keep your shoulders still, you just move up and down with the arms and you're really going to feel that in the arms. If you want to work on the other part of your bicep muscle, then you can do a regular bicep curl. Keeping the same form, keeping your chest upright, shoulders back, stomach drawing in to the stomach, you want to lift up and down. Also getting a really good bicep workout. Make sure that you avoid swaying your back and keep your posture just like this. This is Stephany with Elevate Fitness and we just talked about exercises in toning arms and the back. Get lifting.
