Hi, I’m Erin Hendley, professional makeup artist. And today, I’m going to show you how to use makeup to cover facial hair. For women, the problem area for facial hair is usually right above the lip. And so, we have two ways we can do this. If they dark hair on their upper lip, then the best way to cover it is with a thick cake foundation just for coverage. But, most women really just have a little bit of peach fuzz, and so the best way to cover this is to go in with a light foundation. Light moisturizing liquid foundations are going to cover the areas, hydrate them, but not overbear the texture, and that’s what we want to make sure that we’re not enhancing is the texture of the peach fuzz or facial hair. And so, with a cake makeup, that would adhere to the hairs and really make it more apparent. But, with the liquid makeup, it’s really just working into the skin, eliminating color, and not enhancing the texture. So, it’s best to apply with a synthetic brush with your liquid makeup, because it just gives the best application. You can use your fingers too, but brushes are known to go well with going over the hairs on the face in the same direction. So, we’re just going to blot that. Sometimes, as women we get it on the sides of the face too, and the brush will help with that. Just make sure that your strokes are in the same direction as the hair growth itself. Layer it on as needed – that’s up to you, and up to your discretion. I’m Erin Hendley, and I just showed you how to cover facial hair with makeup.
