Hi, I'm Phyllis of Many Creative Gifts and in this segment I'm going to demonstrate the brick stitch. The brick stitch is a very fun and versatile stitch and here's a look at a finished product. The way to start it is to do the number of chains corresponding with the width that you want. You're going to skip the first three chains from your hook and do three double crochet stitches into that fourth chain. You're going to skip three stitches, three chains and you're going to do a single crochet stitch into that fourth chain. Chain three and do three DCs into the next chain. Again, you're going to skip three chains. Be sure that you are counting this one that gets squished, right next to the one you just worked into, so one, two, three and do a single crochet stitch into that fourth chain. Chain three, three DCs into the next chain. And don't split your yarn like I did. You're going to skip three chains, a single crochet into the next fourth chain. Chain three and three DCs into the next chain. And you do a single crochet into the last chain of the row. To start your second row, chain three and turn and do three double crochet stitches into that single crochet stitch from the row below. Now this time you're going to be repeating the same pattern of stitches but you're going to be doing it into the chain three that you did in the row below. So do your single crochet, your chain three and three double crochet stitches all into that chain three from the row below. Just repeat that across, single crochet, chain three, three double crochet stitches. At the end of the row do a single crochet stitch into the chain three at the end of the first row, turn, chain three, three double crochet stitches into that first single crochet stitch from the row below. Then, you're going to want to repeat this pattern stitch into the chain threes across the row. You're going to do a single crochet stitch, chain three, three double crochet stitches. And continue to do that across the row. You're going to end up with this beautiful pattern that's called the brick pattern and I'm Phyllis of Many Creative Gifts, and this segment was on the brick stitch.
