Hi, I'm Erin Hendley, professional makeup artist, and today I'm here to address the issue of exfoliating twice a day. Actually it's a misconception, you shouldn't exfoliate twice a day. More like twice a week. And this is because if you exfoliate all the time it's going to over compensate and your skin is going to dry out way to easily. So we are going to start out before we put on our exfoliator with a moisturizer or a water. I'm going to use a sponge, you can use your finger or a sponge. And just go in all over the skin. You can layer it on pretty thick. Because we want our face to be nice and moist when we put our exfoliator on. The reason we are making it wet is because when we put the exfoliator on it's tiny grits of pieces and we don't want to irritate the skin too much. So now that we have our facial moisturizer on we can go in with our exfoliator. You don't need a lot like you said, exfoliator shouldn't happen all the time, too frequently. And it really needs to be done gently because it's basically sand in the exfoliator. And what it's supposed to do is to get the dead cells off the skin and to open up the new layer so the skin can look healthy and glow. So after we've worked it into the skin, fingers or a sponge work. You definitely need to go back in and wash it off. Exfoliator doesn't remain on the skin all day. It's clearly just a skin process. You don't need to leave it long on your face either. So just once or twice a week depending on how dry your skin is, and I'm Erin Hendley and I showed you how to use exfoliator.
