Hi, my name is Christina Gavenda at Domesticfelicity.com, and today we're going to talk about when to stop bedtime milk for a toddler. The short answer to this is that you are the parent and you get to decide. The longer answer is you probably want to stop some time between 18 months and two years old. If you haven't come to the point yet where you are making that decision and they are still a little young, now would probably be a good time to start backing off what time you give them milk. The farther you give them milk from bedtime, the easier it is to not have a habit of comfort around that milk, so that it's something that nutritious them, something they enjoy, but it's not something that they derive comfort from. People are for comfort, food and drinks aren't, that is something that I think is really important to remember. You also can try various things if you are already there with a habit by replacing that habit. It can be much easier to wean them off of their bedtime milk, things like reading a book before bedtime, giving their milk a little bit earlier than you normally would and then the next week a little bit earlier than that and then the week after that a little bit earlier than that and then keep your habit of reading your book in place. Whatever you decide to do, the key is to remember to move slowly. You don't want to cause stress for you or your child over something as simple as milk at bedtime. It's really not that big of a deal. You want to make sure that your toddler is weaned off of a bottle and you can put them on a sippy cup of milk and then just baby steps back. This is really not a serious issue and it's certainly not to disrupt your home life over. Thanks so much for watching.
