Hi, I'm Brenda Cusick the Avocado Diva. Today, we are going to make an avocado and papaya salad. We are going to be using all kinds of unusual fruits. And I did say fruit, because avocados are technically a fruit. There are all kinds, there's over 500 varieties in California. And many of them are very fruit like, they have more of a fruity flavor. Or sometimes people call it a watery flavor. And I think that pairs really nicely with classic fruit. So lets just pile in a bunch of delicious fruit including our papaya. And we are going to cover it with a salty sweet Oriental dressing. And it will be a delicious and unusual fruit salad. So we'll go ahead and lets do the easy stuff first. Lets throw in some raspberries. One of them still has it's leaf on it. And lets throw in some blackberries. Hey one of them had a leaf too. Alright and then these kind of tomatoes are called strawberry tomatoes. And they don't really taste like strawberries they just have a shape that's reminiscent of a strawberry. And if you think about it's not too unusual to call a tomato something like that. We have cherry tomatoes, and we have grape seed tomatoes. Alright and then lets use some of our papaya. And just because our other vegetable, sorry our other fruits are kind of round I'm going to dice these into spears so that we have a little variety. Okay. And then I have some really unusual heirloom tomatoes that are in season right now. These are called pear tomatoes and they are pear shaped. And they're yellow. And they are sweeter then the red tomatoes. They have more of a flavor reminiscent of a pear so that will be quite delicious in here. And then I have some very unusual stripey heirloom tomatoes so let's get one of them in there. So now lets take one of these delicious avocados and I've already cut it in half. Now I'm going to cut it into quarters. And this is kind of an easy way to get the pit out. Just grab onto it and take it off. And lets see I think I'll use my slicer. I have this handy tool that I'll just slice right through the avocado and turn it right into some beautiful slices here. And I'll put them in here with our other fruit. I would like to give it a little bit of fresh orange flavor. So we'll just put that on there. and finally for our dressing I have a little bit of a sweet and sour Oriental dressing. It's just from a bottle. It has some sesame seeds in it and we are going to dress this fruit right up with that. And we can toss it. Now if you can smell how beautiful this is. This would be a great summer time dessert full of all kinds of fresh vitamins and minerals. With our papayas and our avocados, our berries, our heirloom tomatoes. All kinds of unusual fruit.
