Hi, my name is Erica Lugbill, and I own Lugbill Designs, a residential interior design and remodeling firm in Chicago. Today I'm going to be discussing different problems that you run into when painting your kitchen walls. The biggest problem that I've run into is the washability factor. Kitchen walls are a prime spot for grease, food and grime to build up on. So you wanna make sure that the surface is washable. I prefer flat paints in general. I think that they leave a nicer finish, and I prefer not having a sheen on the walls. The great thing about flat paints now is there are several different washable options. There's flat enamel paints, and then also ceramic-based flat paints. So you can scrub these paints to death and they're staying on the walls. The most important thing in painting your kitchen walls is the prep work. Honestly, I just use a rag and some good old dish soap, that cuts the grease. And give the walls a good scrubbing before I start painting. The great thing about dish soap is it does cut the grease that's on your walls already, and then this will leave a nice clean surface for you to start painting. Thank for joining me today. I hope you found these tips helpful. To see more of my work, go to LugbillDesigns.com.
