Hi, I’m Lori Gilder from Interior Makeovers and And today, we’re talking about how to pull a bedroom together. Now, your bedroom really is a refuge. It’s a place you relax, you rest. But, wither way, it really is a place for you to turn off the stresses of the day and decompress and relax. Everyone is interested - and everybody wants – to have a camera-ready room. We flip through those magazines and they look fantastic. So, how do you get that? And, the best way to really achieve that camera-ready look is to first take some inventory, truly, of what it is you have. What are you keeping? What are you purging? And really, what must you have? What is it that’s speaking to you that’s saying, “I have to have this in my bedroom”? Secondly, look around for inspiration. Look all around you. You can walk outside, you may have a tapestry that your grandmother gave you. Something that really inspires you to pull tones and colors and themes from within that, and really express that in your bedroom. And then, take those colors and tones and try and unite them, and repeat with color schemes, textures, colors, patterns, and overlay them. And, don’t be afraid to mix and match. And, don’t be afraid to do the yin and yang concept, you know, of end tables that are necessarily matching – one can be rectangular, one can be round. A beautiful bench at the foot of your bed can be spectacular, and it really does pull the entire space together. Your pillows, your fabrics, your wall coverings, even just a simple, beautiful headboard – can be a tufted upholstered headboard, it can be channeled. Anything that gives you that transitional look that you’re after – if that’s what you’re into – or traditional. Or, even go a little more eclectic and find a beautiful old screen or door at your flea market or an antique sale, or implementing some of those really great finds into your room, it will speak to your style, and you will love it. And, you’ll see ultimately everything is pulled together. So, when it comes to pulling a bedroom together, there really are a lot of options and a lot of ways to go about doing that. So, I would love to hear from you. Again, I’m Lori Gilder, and you can reach me at
