This is Melissa Morley with All Seasons Insurance. Today, we're discussing your rights when you've been refused car insurance. The first right that you have is to find out why. Why were you refused car insurance? Some of you may already know the answer to this. For others, it's going to be a mystery. You can request information from the company that's refused you insurance. Sometimes it's as easy as making sure that they know that the information that they've pulled up on you isn't correct. Insurance companies have loss reporting ways that they can find out if claims have been filed before. They run reports on you through the motor vehicles. Sometimes the motor vehicle reports or the loss reports on you pull up other driver's information. If this is the case, you have to go to the authority that reported it incorrectly. Know that the insurance agent or company is not responsible for those. If it is something on your driving record that's not accurate, you need to contact the Department of Motor Vehicles of the state that you've received that incorrect information from. If it is an insurance issue, it's as easy as getting a Letter of Experience from your present insurance showing that that was not your fault. Those are two ways that you can take care of the situation. It certainly is within your right to ask why. Now, if you've been refused due to an underwriting issue, such as you've had too many tickets or accidents, the states have a fair plan that you can find through individual state's insurance commissioners office. Every company must give some insurance that will cover you, but it doesn't have to be cheap, but it does have to be accessible. If you're having trouble getting insured, just contact your insurance commissioners for the state, and you can find out what all of your rights are. This is Melissa Morley with All Seasons Insurance. Today, we discussed your rights if you've been refused insurance.
