This is Melissa Morley with All Seasons Insurance. Today, we're going to talk about car insurance policies. It's a really good thing to know the basics of them. Most people don't even know what their policies cover, maybe this will help give you a base so then you can go open it up, look at it, read it, it's a good idea. The first thing that you're going to find on a car insurance policy is the liability. It comes in anywhere from 25/50/10, depending upon the state and what those numbers mean in this example would be $25,000 per person to be paid out on an accident; but, not to exceed $50,000 for the whole accident and $10,000 on the property damage. That's it if somebody's car or home or their property. The next thing on the policy is uninsured motorist. Sometimes people don't have insurance and if they hit you, uninsured motorist is a really good affordable coverage for you to consider. It's optional as the comprehensive inclusions are also optional. That's considered physical damage. That covers your car. Next we have medical. Medical comes in different forms. It comes in personal injury protection or straight medical coverage and then you can buy additional coverages that are really worth considering. Towing is a nice feature especially since your car always seems to break down late at night when you're alone. That's Murphy's law on it. Now, consider having rental reimbursements. That's an optional coverage; costs more a bit, but if you only have one car, you can get fired if you've been on an accident and you no longer have a way to get back and forth to work while your car's being worked on. It's a good thing to ask your agent if you don't know what you have, but again, we have liability that's for them, we have uninsured motorist, it covers what they're not paying for; comp inclusion cover your car and then any extras that you might have and don't forget medical. It's a good thing to know your policy. This is Melissa Morley with All Seasons Insurance, and today we talked about car insurance policies in general.
