This is Melissa Morley with All Seasons Insurance. Today, we're talking about how to get insurance on a borrowed car. First of all, let's define what a borrowed car is. Say that you've taken a vacation to go see you brother in another state, and he offers you his car to drive down to the store. You need to find out from him, and maybe he needs to call his insurance agent, for that state, is his insurance adequate for you driving his car? Get a recommendation. Now, if your brother offers to loan you a car for any length of time, say because you need the car to get back and forth to work, that might be a different subject. Call up your insurance company, be sure to let them know that you don't own the car, but that you do need to get insurance so that you can drive this car. Your brother will probably want that if he expects you to keep physical damage like comprehensive and collision, on that vehicle, so if you crash it and it's your fault, then the car can be repaired back to what it was. If it's an older car, doesn't need physical damage, you might consider getting a broad form insurance policy which covers you, and then you're allowed to drive any car. That may be a good choice for you, but be aware that these policies usually cover only lower level of liability limits. This is Melissa Morley with All Seasons Insurance, and today we've talked about how to get insurance on a borrowed car.
