Hi, my name is Christina Gavenda at and today we're going to talk about giving your newborn honey. There is never any reason ever to give your newborn honey. Everything your baby needs is found in a bottle of formula or in breast milk. There is no reason ever to give them honey. In fact it's dangerous. If your child is dehydrated from a fever or from diarrhea or vomiting, then your doctor might suggest you give them Pedialyte to make sure that they stay hydrated which has electrolytes in it which is not what honey is. So you want to make sure that you're not giving them honey before the age of one and also you want to once they're into the stage of eating solids which is well past the newborn stage, make sure that there's no honey in what they're being given. You want to make sure you check the ingredients to see if there is any honey in there because they can't have any until after a year old. My name is Christina Gavenda. Thanks so much for watching and that's when to give your newborn honey.
