Hi, my name is Christina Gavenda at, and today we're going to talk about how to bring a baby closer to you. Physically it's really easy to bring a baby closer to you, just support their neck and head and pull them over to you or pick them up and bring them next to you. Emotionally is what's important though and you want to make sure that you're spending plenty of time holding your baby, cuddling them, feeding them, while you're holding them. If you're nursing this isn't a problem, you have to hold them and that's kind of how it's designed to be. But if you're bottle feeding it can be tempting to prop a bottle where they are sitting or laying and just leave them there. It is so important that you hold your baby while you feed them. That is when you connect. That's time set aside from the business of your day to look in their eyes, to touch their skin. This is how babies learn and grow and if they are not getting that from you, then they're not learning and growing the way they should. It is vitally important. You also want to make sure that as you spend time with them, you're calm and things aren't completely hectic. Of course, your normal day is going on but you're not yelling and your emotional presence with them is very soothing. My name is Christina Gavenda. Thanks so much for watching and that's how to bring your baby closer to you.
