Hi, I'm Susan McLennan from Babble On Communications and I sometimes get asked, "well, what can I do with a Bachelor's in Public Relations?" Well, actually, you can do a lot. You can work in government, you can work in a for profit corporation or a not for profit entity. You'll probably end up working in one of seven fields and they are media relations, that's dealing with journalists, bloggers, micro bloggers. A micro blogger incidentally is somebody who is very active on Facebook or Twitter, one of the social media sites. Second of all you might end up in events management. That could be organizing a trade show, conference, doing a product launch, anything along those lines. Third is employee communications where you keep employees updated on everything going on inside the company or outside that's relevant. Fourth is analyst relations, that means ensuring that business analysts have all the information they need to write about you or broadcast about you, hopefully favorably. Five is lobbying and lobbying the government for a new law, that's a prime example. Six is community relations. Increasingly that involves social media, so community animators, social conveners on line, anybody managing the social media sites but also off line it's community involvement, keeping the ear to the ground, knowing when there are going to be problems, creating programs that better engage neighbors, anything that is really about ensuring the company's reputation on the ground is maintained or enhanced and finally, is crisis communications. That covers anything to do with if there's a product recall or an unexpected resignation or death of a CEO or unexpected losses, anything where there is crisis that crisis communication can be absolutely the difference between a company going under or surviving and going on to do quite well. So that is essentially what is involved with public relations and what you can do with your Bachelor's Degree and I hope that's helpful. I'm Susan McLennan from Babble On Communications. Thanks for watching.
