Hi, I'm Jennifer Mull with Backwoods in Austin, Texas. Today, we're going to talk about how to make an outdoor lantern while you're on a backpacking or camping trip. So the first thing you can do, one thing that we've used a lot on backpacking trips when we're trying to make a lantern is take something that you've brought along such as a fleece jacket and you basically make a nest for your lantern. That allows you to be able to cradle both the light that I'm going to show you in a minute and the water bottle etc. Then assuming that you do have a head lamp along which most people do take on backpacking trips, you can put that into your next that you made out of your fleece jacket. Then you can take a water bottle, it certainly can be any color and you're just going to place it over the lamp that you have the head lamp and basically just nest it in the fleece jacket that you have. This really provides a lot of light, you might be surprised and certainly in the evening it illuminates a lot better and a lot broader space if you put the water bottle over it. They do make lanterns that you can buy as well so there are other options certainly. They come in many different sizes. This is quite large. I have one that's about this big that is you know, made ahead of time so you can certainly take something like that but this is an easy way to do it with just some of the raw materials you have that you would probably have on any backpacking trip.
