Hi there, I'm Marissa Vicario, founder of Marissa's Well-being and Health and creator of The Total Reset Healthy Eating Plan. Today we're going to talk about what herbs pair well with apples. When most people think of apples, they think of adding spices like cinnamon and nutmeg that compliment the sweet flavor of apples. But savory herbs also pair well with apples. Some of my favorites are sage, rosemary and thyme and today I'm going to make sauteed cabbage with apples and thyme. So my heat on my stove is medium high and I'm going to add about two tablespoons of olive oil and let that heat through. Then I'm going to add about half an onion diced and saute the onion until it's golden brown. So about two minutes. Next I'm going to add about two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, some sea salt and black pepper to taste and about a quarter of a tablespoon of thyme and then I'll let the onion cook with that for just a couple more minutes. Then I'm going to add about a quarter of a head of cabbage and one apple, sliced. I like Gala apples, give it a good stir and then cover and cook for about two minutes. After five minutes or so your apples and your cabbage will be nice and soft and ready to be removed from the pan. Sauteed cabbage with apples and thyme makes an excellent side dish for your dinner table or you can add any protein you like like chicken or tofu to make it a complete meal.
