How to Get a Baby to Like His Playpen

Whether or not a baby is going to like his playpen depends entirely on a few key things. Get a baby to like his playpen with help from a family case worker in this free video clip.

Hi, my name is Christina Gavenda at domesticfelicity.com and today we're going to talk about how to get a baby to like his playpen. This really depends on the personality of your baby. You might be able to teach them to like their playpen if they don't like it naturally or you might not be able to. You can try, if they show some fussiness to be really upbeat and have a great attitude, "we get to go play in the playpen right now, how much fun is that". Give them some of their favorite toys, ones that are safe to have when you don't have your eye on them at all times. Of course you're watching them but if you look away you're not going to have to worry about a small part breaking off. So something like this where there's no small parts to come off or a toy that you've tested the wheels to make sure that they're really secure and they're not going anywhere. Or a toy like this that's colorful that they can play with and has no parts that are dangerous. If you want your baby to like the playpen you never want to use it as a form of punishment or discipline. Make sure that when you start putting them in their playpen that they're going in when they're happy and in a good mood and you're able to have fun with them by helping them play with their toys that are in there. You also want to make sure that if your child just will not get it, be willing to give up. Not all babies are willing to play in their playpen. If you have to use it during a time when you have to take a shower or something like that then that's one thing. But you might not ever get them to the point where they really enjoy going in there.
