Hi, I'm your salsa sister, Carolyn Goldwater with Goldwaters.com. Today, we're making an easy chili recipe with chili powder. This is super easy and I'm going to show you how to do it. We're going to take a pound of ground beef and we're going to brown it with a cup of onions and I have already done that for us so we can put this together. We're going to take a can of tomato sauce, we're going to take a can, these are 15 ounce cans of stewed tomatoes or you can do chopped tomatoes. We're going to add a cup of water, one can of beans. We're using the dark kidney beans but you can use pinto beans if you prefer or black beans are good too. And then we're adding a tablespoon of chili powder, a tablespoon of garlic powder and salt and pepper to taste. Now you can get a chili powder mix so it's already blended with some different spices, that's always nice too or you can do it just simply like this. I'm using a couple big pinches, actually small handfuls of salt and pepper and then just stir it together. This is a super simple recipe. It takes about a half an hour to 40 minutes to make with the browned beef and while this is warming up and blending the spices together you can make a pan of cornbread. I like to make the cornbread with the green chiles and the cheese together, that's a really nice combination with this or you can make some quesadillas. And you might give it a taste to see if there's enough salt or pepper. We're going to serve this up with some quesadillas today and I'll show you how nice that looks. Give your chile about 15 to 20 minutes to blend the spices and then it's ready to serve. Your easy chili is really tasty with some little toppings on top such as cheese, maybe a few chopped onions, some sour cream. I like a little cilantro. If you like it, it's sure nice on top and here's your easy chili recipe with chili powder. We're serving it with a quesadilla and I think that looks just beautiful, enjoy.
