Hello, I'm Bruce Hurwitz, president and CEO of Hurwitz Strategic Staffing. You can find me on the web at How to leave the job after having a baby. Emotional issues aside, this is an easy one. No one is going to blame you for wanting to spend time with your new child. If they do, you probably don't want to work for them. It's simply not an issue. Just make certain that your colleagues know how to reach you. They're going to have questions, it's obvious. And they will understand that you have more pressing things going on when you don't pick up the phone immediately. Just make sure you call them back. Remember, you are leaving the company, you are not deserting it. There's no need for a guilty conscious. One thing you should do, when the time is right, bring the baby to the office. It's a good way to maintain the relationship with your co-workers. Now just be sensitive to the person who is replacing you. You don't want her to feel uncomfortable, especially if you've made it clear that you are not returning for some time. It's her job now, not yours. Best of luck and thank you for watching.
